Poverty has deprived many youth from reaching their ideal goal in life. Shantina Shadapis one of those young girls whose educational pursuit was cut short due to the economic condition of her family.  She hails from village Umsaw in Ri- Bhoi located in the District of Meghalaya. She discontinued her studies after 10^th standard and started supporting her parents who work as daily wager.

The turning point in her life came when she joined DB Tech to receive training in the Hospitality – Cookery Domain. All throughout the training programme, she used to be sincere, attentive and always ready to learn new things. When she joined the program, she was bit introvert, but gradually with training, she developed her soft skills and confidence.  “This opportunity has made my dream come true”, she adds. She also mentioned that without paying even a single penny, she got a chance to learn valuable skills to work in an organized sector and also an opportunity to stand on her own feet developing individual identity.

She admires her mentors saying “My mentors has not only helped me in building up my confidence, but has also given me a chance to improve my communication skills, they have always been motivating for me. It’s because of them that today I feel confident enough to face any of the challenges coming my way, I am very much grateful to them”.

After she completed her training, she got the job at Subway (Shillong). She is happy to get an opportunity with an International brand like Subway and emphasizes the fact that ‘there is no shortcut to Success; it’s the hard work and dedication that brings in success. Mr. Barun the owner of the Branch where she is working shared, “She is a sincere and hardworking girl.” He also appreciated the fact that DB Tech has taken up such an initiative to help the marginalized youth. Today, she is earning the salary of Rs 5000 per month and happily supporting her Family. She is thankful to DB Tech for conducting such Training Programme for the economically marginalized youth. It is like a ray of hope for all those who have lost all their hopes to live a better life.
