This is a story about a young man named Pathiban. A story of second chances. The story of making a comeback, a story of grit and determination. It is said, “Sometimes life gives us a second chance because maybe the first time you weren’t ready.” It applies in the life of Parthiban who is working as a steward in Carlton Tower Hotel, Dubai with a monthly salary of INR 37,000.

Parthiban hails from Pavunjur, a hamlet near Cheyyur Taluk, a young boy thinking of a good life ahead with a settled career. Though born in a poor & illiterate family, his parents were always by his side who encouraged him to study further. His father is a farmer and his mother, a homemaker. Being the eldest son, he spent his free time helping his father, farming. He joined Don Bosco Tech just to see what was going on and he realized he had no interest and conviction to complete the course. He discontinued the course and joined MGR University, Chennai.

After completing his Hotel management course He felt that the real need was not met at the university and this made him more confused and worried. He got in touch with one of the trainers of Don Bosco Tech, Madurantakam, and explained his dilemma to him and was advised to get enrolled again. Just when everything seemed futile he enrolled himself in DB Tech, the second time. This changed everything for him and became one of the turning points of his life.

He got himself enrolled in Food and Beverage Steward Service domain and learned everything including self-discipline, smartness, and personal grooming. As time wore on and with the help from the trainers and peers he was able to get the gist of things positively and looked forward to working in the hotel industry. He was the fortunate one to get a reference of a chef from Carlton Hotel, Sharjah for his placement who happened to be a good friend of one of the Trainer.

He was able to win the hearts of the trainers. He was a person of strong determination and being always positive. Like most youngsters, he had a willingness to take risks.
