“My wish was to become a Chef in a star hotel and that came true now,” says Hemant

Rana. It is really overwhelming when we heard these words from a person who has been able to accomplish his dream. Hemant Rana was a young talented boy from a middleclass family who completed his intermediate and was eager to become a Chef. But dreams always have some hurdles to be overcome before it becomes a reality. And one of the hurdles for Hemant was that his parents could not afford the amount to pay for hotel management training.

Hemant lost his father before joining DB Tech training and was living with his mother and sisters. This loss put the burden of feeding the family up Hemant. As he was the only male child in the family he had the responsibility to take care of others. It shattered his dreams of becoming a Chef and also brought a hindrance to his career by making his living miserable and carried him into depression.

When he was in this crisis and depression, he came to know about DB BEST Academy through Fr. Francis Pinto. He started a journey with new hopes along with his friend from Naintal (Uttarakhand) at DB BEST Academy. The incidents in the past made it difficult for him in the beginning to stay in South India together with different weather, Culture, food, language etc. Despite of all these hardships his aim was still important for him.

The trainers found him that he was very active in all the clasess and activities. In the break time, he used to help the kitchen team to cut vegetables for lunch. Seeing the cutting style, trainers made sure that they place him in a good hotel as a Chef. These three months prepared him to excel his dream of becoming a Chef; and the extra training at the institute was good enough for him to improve his language and to overcome the fear of facing audience. The industrial visit to Windflower Hotel and Silicrest was a wonder experience for him.

After three months, he started attending interviews but unfortunately his interest was in a different field and the openings were only for Housekeeping and Food & Beverage Services. He did not select any of these and waited to get placement in his desired field.

After many interviews, he selected in The Biere Club as trainee cook with the salary of Rs. 7,500/-. There was no looking back for Hemant as he embarked on a journey to fulfil his dream of becoming a chef. His dedication and hard work flourished within a very short period. After completing a year, he joined in new organisation called Opus Club as a chef with the salary of Rs 21,000. His expertise tickled the tasty buds of the interviewers so much that the dish prepared by Hemant bagged him an on the spot proposal to give this salary.
