Mr. Ajay hails from Maduranthakam (Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu). His father is a daily wage laborer, who look after the entire 4-member family with his meagre income. He has an elder brother and an elder sister. He was searching for an employment to support his family and unable to get a quality job offer because he does not have any skill. At that time, one of his friends introduced him to the skill training and placement assistance initiative of Don Bosco Tech. When he know about the ‘BASE’ program of Don Bosco Tech implemented for the welfare of youth like him, he came to the centre to enquire about enrollment and benefits of the program. He knew that the training program is two months duration and completely free for the less privileged youth like him. Besides that he will get free study materials during the training and placement assistance after the training.

He convinced his father to join the short duration skill training program at Don Bosco Tech. He was counseled by the trainers through the interest inventory. The trainers suggested him to enroll in the Welding course. In these two months, he not only learned about the trade but also taught about the communication skills, basic IT skills and soft skills. He says, “The life skills learned in Don Bosco Tech helped me in every step of my career whether it is decision making, time management, team building, etc. The best part of the training is that our parents are also involved in the training process which is a uniqueness of the program.” Following two months of hard work and learning came to an end with an assessment which he passed with good percentage. After the training, the team at Don Bosco Tech helped him to attend the interview in Motherson Automotive Engineering Pvt Ltd located at SP Koil, Tamilnadu. He selected in the interview and joined as Helper Welder with monthly salary of Rs 12000/-.

He wholeheartedly thanked Don Bosco Tech and the trainers for making him a skilled workforce as well as helping him to get good job opportunity in a reputed company. Mr. Ajay says, “I never thought that I could stand on my feet or speak to anyone in English nor I had dreamed of any achievement in my life. It was all because of Don Bosco Tech, that finally I became the person whom I always dreamed about in my earlier days of extreme anxiety.”
