Deepak Chalotra belongs to a middle-class family in a small village namely Meen sarkar in Bari Brahamna Jammu. His father is a Govt employee and has 4 members in a family. He completed his 12th class but did not opt to study further and stayed jobless at home for a long time.

At the age of 26, he realized that it's never too late to start looking for opportunities. On his venture, he came across a Community Mobilizer of Don Bosco Tech Smailpur centre who introduced him to the organization. Without any doubt, he is convinced that Don Bosco Tech Society is the right organization for him to be skilled. It was more promising as there is a job opportunity for him. Don Bosco Tech Society focuses on youths who are underprivileged and who are not interested in further studies giving them a livelihood.  The center was just a stone's throw away from his home which made it easy for him to attend classes every day. Amongst the courses offered at the center, he found the Assistant electrician course to be of his interest. This course was funded by DDUGKY. He was a brilliant trainee. In July 2020, he was offered a Job as a Technician with a salary of INR 18500 in HAVELLS Himachal Pradesh when the COVID-19 was at its peak. The situation was difficult but eagerness to make the most of this opportunity doesn't let him stop. He qualified for the telephonic interview and joined on the said date.

In his own words: “I have learnt a lot of things from the course. Our domain trainer as well as other trainers taught us very well and improved us in all aspects of life. All the lessons were very well explained by our trainer. We all got the full support whenever required. After the completion of the course we were offered various jobs at various locations but I choose to join HAVELLS INDIA in Himachal Pradesh ( Baddi). I am working here for almost one year at a salary of 18500(Basic + Overtime). I am really enjoying my job, I can support my family and look forward to a bright future ahead."
