“I would like to thank Don Bosco Tech Society for allowing me to support my family. I belong to a very poor family. There has not been a day when I have not cried myself to sleep and woke up with tears in my eyes. My life seemed meaningless but Don Bosco Tech Society has helped me to be skilled and assisted me for employment,” said Krishan Lal.

Belonging to an economically weak family, Krishan Lal hails from a village Dhar, Ramshyar in Solan a district in Himachal Pradesh. His father works as a farmer with meager earnings. With a low family income, Krishan had little hope of securing a bright and sustainable future. His family’s standard of living is very poor. Increasing the cost of living and supporting a family of five became difficult with time, compelling him to discontinue his education post 12th standard.

He tried hard to find a suitable job to support his family but due to his incomplete education and lack of skills, he couldn’t succeed. Soon, a mobilizer from Don Bosco Tech Society met Krishan and counseled him about the free skill training program at Don Bosco tech Nalagarh which was supported by ITC. With the provision of food, accommodation facilities, and most importantly, linkage to placement opportunities, he could see a flicker of hope for the future.

Krishan’s visit to the center motivated him to join the training. In his counseling session, he was informed about the different courses, job profiles that required growth in the sector, and scope. As more complex and strategized Data Entry Operator structures are gaining demand in the economy, the need for skilled operators is also rising.

Assuring himself and his family, he enrolled himself for the three-month course where he learned about the course, basic English and Computer, how to present himself, write resumes along with theory and practical classes. The training developed his self-confidence and prepared him to face any challenge in his personal and professional life. He was always regular in class and took active participation in all educational activities. He is a good learner and observer. He took active participation in the extra-curricular activities.

After completing the course, he secured a job as an Operator in Acme Generics with a monthly salary of INR 11343 with additional benefits. He has found an avenue for a secured and sustainable future. He is content with his job and enjoys learning new things. He can support his family financially. Krishan is among the thousands of people who have climbed the ladder of opportunity by realizing the potential of their skills.
