With the high demand for young workers, age did not stop 30-year-old Jajati Keshari Nayak to join the skill training program. With only 10 passes educational qualification, he is now earning 25000K. He belongs to a small village called Katimaha of Kandhamal district, Odisha. His family consists of 5 members - his father, mother, 2 brothers, and 1 sister. His father is a farmer and his mother is a homemaker, his siblings are still pursuing their education. His father is a farmer with a small cultivation land resulting in low productivity and less income. The total monthly income of his father is insufficient to meet the family’s day-to-day requirements and necessities of the household. Due to poor financial condition, he had to drop out of school after class 10. Lack of opportunities made Jajati sit idle at home with no future until one fine day when his friend told him about Don Bosco Tech Society and also skill training in Don Bosco Tech Sambalpur, Odisha. The placement opportunity after the training is something that caught his attention which made him excited to join the training.

Due to the COVID lockdown, he couldn't visit the training center so he contacted the center staff via a conference call who shared with him all the necessary information about the training program. Upon Counseling Jajati decided to opt for Food & Beverage Service Steward course which was supported by Accenture. Thanks to technology, he was able to attend classes virtually. The desire to get a job to support his family gives him the motivation to work hard during the training. He took interest in learning English as this will be beneficial to get a job. The good thing about Don Bosco Tech training is that trainees are also given additional lessons like soft skills, basic computer, Communicative English and work readiness. In just 3 months, Jajati felt confident in him.

After completing 3 months online training program, he was interviewed by Adish Lodge, Bar, Restaurant of Jagatpur, Cuttack, a hotel in Odisha. His hard work and interest gave him a pathway to join the hotel the very next day of the interview. With a starting salary of 6000K, he was not discouraged as he believes that this was just the beginning. His performance at work was of great zeal & commitment. As his experience level and confidence increases, he joined Sodexo India Pvt. Ltd. as a Supervisor in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh with a monthly salary of INR 25000.

He is very happy and content with the Job. He expresses his gratitude towards Don Bosco Tech Society and his trainers in which his success wouldn’t have been possible. His dream to support his family came true. They are very happy and proud of him.
